Edward F. Dombroski, Jr.
Managing Partner
BIO
With nearly two decades of experience in all aspects of family law, Ed has developed a distinguished practice focused on sophisticated litigation, from complex financial issues to challenging child custody matters. He is also experienced in international custody litigation under the Hague Convention. Ed represents clients throughout Massachusetts, across the country, and around the world in matters in the Massachusetts state and Federal Courts.
Ed is often called upon by local and national media outlets to provide legal analysis and perspective on family law issues He also lectures on financial issues in family law. Consistently selected over ten years by Law & Politics as a MA Super Lawyers “Rising Star,” Ed has been featured in Boston Magazine.
As a Trustee of the Massachusetts Bar Foundation, Ed helps oversee grantmaking to expand access to legal services. He previously served on the Board of Directors for RESPOND, Inc., New England’s first domestic violence agency. After serving on the Town of Wakefield's Finance Committee, Ed was elected as a Town Councilor, a position he currently holds, and was selected to serve a term as Council Chairman.
In his free time Ed enjoys snowboarding, running marathons, and competing in sprint triathlons.

Laura D. Edge

Laura focuses her practice exclusively on all areas of domestic relations, including divorce, child support and alimony, child custody, asset valuation and division, modifications, prenuptial agreements, abuse prevention orders, and contempt proceedings. She also has experience representing clients in appellate proceedings.
Prior to joining the firm, Laura was an associate at a small firm in Plymouth, MA, focused on domestic relations and child welfare law. During law school, she worked as a legal intern for the Honorable Maureen Monks in the Middlesex Probate and Family Court. Laura also worked as an intern at the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office and Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office during law school.
In her free time, Laura enjoys running, skiing, reading, and spending time with her family and friends.

Brett M. Higgins

Brett’s expertise at Travers | Dombroski includes pre- and post-nuptial agreements, divorce, custody and parenting issues, property division, support, restraining orders, modification, contempt, and related litigation and appeals.
Prior to attending law school, Brett worked with military families as the Senior Support Specialist for the Massachusetts Army and Air National Guard Yellow Ribbon Program. During law school, Brett continued her work with veterans as the Legal Intern Manager for Veteran’s Legal Services where she counseled clients in several areas including domestic relations. Additionally, as a student attorney with the Boston University Civil Litigation Clinic, Brett represented clients in a variety of civil matters including domestic relations. Prior to joining Travers | Dombroski, Brett served as a Legal Fellow with the Massachusetts Department of Children and Families.
Outside the firm, Brett enjoys fishing with her husband, going to the beach with a good book (usually a thriller), and spending time with family and friends

Theresa's practice is dedicated to all aspects of family law, from straightforward matters settled by agreement to contentious litigation. Her areas of focus include divorce, alimony, child support and custody, restraining orders, modifications, pre-nuptial agreements, and contempt actions.
During law school, Theresa interned and worked in Boston University's Civil Litigation Clinic where she worked on litigation matters such as domestic relations, employment, housing, and discrimination law. She also interned with Greater Boston Legal Services and worked on myriad immigration issues.
In her free time, Theresa enjoys going to comedy shows, concerts, and spending time with her friends, family, and cats.

Margaret S. Travers

Attorney Margaret S. Travers was a pioneer in the practice of Family Law in the Boston area and maintained a distinguished career spanning 50 years.
A graduate of Wellesley College in 1966, she headed to Boston College Law School with intentions of becoming a legal reformer. One of a handful of women in her law school class, Margaret qualified for law review in her first year, but she chose to participate in the founding of the Boston College Law School Legal Assistance Bureau in her second and third years of law school. Her experience in representing clients in family law matters redirected her interest from law reform to working directly with clients, which she enjoyed from initial interviews to final court appearances.
Early in her career, when she had small children, she practiced from an office in her home. Having built a full-time practice, she became a partner in a suburban firm and then of counsel to the 19th century Boston firm Powers and Hall. In 1984 she and eight other lawyers founded the civil litigation firm Taylor, Anderson and Travers, reported in Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly as the largest split-off from a Boston firm to date. Having doubled in size in a decade, TAT divided into three practice groups, and Margaret continued the practice of family law with Melanie Gargas. In 2002, Margaret hired newly-minted associate Edward F. Dombroski, Jr, who, after only five years, became a partner in the renamed firm Travers | Dombroski PC.
Over the years, Margaret built a reputation as a powerful force in the courtroom, trying countless successful cases before the Probate and Family Court. She prevailed in each of four reported appellate cases. Through her tireless dedication to her clients, Margaret gained both local and national recognition for her outstanding work in Domestic Relations. Margaret was an active member of the Massachusetts Bar Association, serving as a board member and officer, and on the Board of the Massachusetts Bar Foundation. She served as a board member of the Boston Bar Association. She was admitted as a Fellow of the Massachusetts Chapter of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers after only five years of practice; became president of the Chapter in 1989; served on the Board of national AAML, helped found the AAML Foundation, and served as its president. A believer in the importance of continuing legal education, she was active in the Family Law Sections of the American, Boston, and Massachusetts Bar Associations, and she lectured for MCLE. She was a charter member of the first group of lawyers belonging to AAML that has met for one weekend each year for over 35 years.
A devoted alumna of Boston College Law School, she served on its Alumni Association boards in the 1970’s and 1990’s and working on several class reunions. In 1987, she was appointed by Governor Michael Dukakis to serve on the Massachusetts Judicial Nominating Commission, a group that met weekly for 3.5 years, screening and recommending candidates for 105 positions in the Massachusetts judicial system.
Margaret is now enjoying a well-deserved retirement. She is remembered in the firm and the national legal community as a trailblazer, zealous advocate, and respected leader.
